Prognosis
I’ve got another post for you written by my friend Cindy Holder Poole.
She really has a way with her words, and her thoughts are quite profound.
𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗡𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗦
:the prospect of recovery as anticipated from the usual course of disease or peculiarities of the case
: a judgment about what is going to happen in the future
: the act or art of foretelling the course of a disease
But what we really mean is, how long will you live?
Or, put differently, from the perspective of the ill person hearing the question,
How long until you are expected to die?
What a terrible word.
The thing is, we all have the same prognosis. We will all live until we don’t!!
The important part isn’t the timing of the deal, anyway.
We will all plan activities until we cannot.
We will all love until the final hour.
My prognosis is the same as yours.
We will attend theater, hike mountains, argue with our mates, make up, make love, hold our children’s hands, clean the bathroom, pick up the dog poop, go to work, join in life’s celebrations, mourn life’s losses, watch the sunrise, twirl in a breeze, laugh, cry, relish boredom, feel overwhelmed, find beauty in a spider’s web, marvel at the sunset, dance...........
until we do not.

Until next time…
